What's included in a ticket for the Neues Museum — and what isn't
The building is shared by three collections, and none of them costs extra. Once you're inside, you can go through everything from the Egyptian Court to Prehistory and Early History. What isn't included in the ticket, however, regularly comes as a surprise.

The key facts for your visit day
The entrance is not the Neues Museum itself but the James-Simon-Galerie on Bodestraße; access via the Kolonnadenhof requires a valid ticket. How much time you need depends on how thorough you want to be: a round of the highlights can be done in under an hour and a half, while a thorough visit fills three hours or more. The Pergamonmuseum is closed — what that means for your ticket
The Pergamonmuseum has been under renovation since 23 October 2023. 4 June 2027 has been announced as the reopening date. So anyone booking a Museum Island ticket with the Pergamon Altar in mind is booking past their actual goal: the building is explicitly not on the list of five that the ticket covers.
For the Neues Museum, the construction work has two consequences. First, some of the island's visitors who actually wanted the Pergamon end up here instead — expect full rooms on weekends. Second, the math on the multi-museum ticket shifts: instead of five houses plus Pergamon, it's five houses, most of which close at 5 or 6pm. Traveler Ali from Germany writes exactly that in his review from 26 July 2026: you can spend the whole day on the island, but the houses close earlier than you'd think. It's quiet on weekdays right at opening at 10am, or on weekdays after 3pm. On weekends, the window between 11:30am and 1pm is the least crowded. Book your time slot accordingly — a late entry on a Saturday is the surest way to end up in a crush in front of the North Dome Room.

How much is admission to the New Egyptian Museum?
As a rule, we don't print amounts here, because they change and an outdated figure is worse than none. What's certain: there's the timed-entry ticket for the Neues Museum alone, the ticket for five houses on Museum Island, and the guided tours with a day ticket included. Admission is free under 18. Do I need a separate ticket for Nefertiti?
No. The North Dome Room is part of the regular tour route, and every ticket for the Neues Museum includes it. There's one exception: the two-hour private tour of Museum Island includes only access to the entrance halls, not full museum admission. Is the multi-museum ticket worth it?
It's worth it if you really have a full day and plan to visit at least two other houses. It's not worth it if you're only starting in the afternoon: most houses on the island close at 5 or 6pm, and the Pergamonmuseum is closed until 4 June 2027.
