Tickets for the Neues Museum: our reviews

Reviews

Five offers lead into the Neues Museum or across Museum Island, and they differ more than their titles suggest. For each one we've written our own review: what's included, what's missing, what the cancellation policy is, and what visitors have publicly written about it. We don't state amounts anywhere, because they change — you'll see the current price directly in the booking window.

Neues Museum admission ticket

By far the most-booked ticket on this page, 4.6 out of 5 from 3,544 reviews. You choose a time slot, enter the building via the James-Simon-Galerie, and have the audio guide in five languages included. That's all it is: transfers and admission to the other buildings on Museum Island are excluded. One point is written in small print in the terms but still weighs heavily — the ticket is non-refundable. Anyone still unsure about their travel date should know this beforehand.

Verdict: the right choice if you want this one building and your date is fixed. To the full review.

Museum Island ticket for several museums

4.5 out of 5 from 3,459 reviews, valid for one day, valid for five buildings: Altes Museum, Neues Museum, Bode-Museum, Alte Nationalgalerie and Das Panorama. Audio guides are not included, but are available on site for an extra fee. And the Pergamonmuseum, which many think of first when they hear Museum Island, is closed. This ticket is also non-refundable. Ali from Germany writes that you can easily spend a whole day here, but should keep in mind that most buildings close at 5pm or 6pm.

Verdict: the more sensible option from the second building onward, not before. To the full review.

Museum Island tour with a guide

5.0 out of 5, but from three reviews. This offer is new, and three votes say little about a tour. On paper, it includes a lot: four hours, private group, the day ticket for all buildings on Museum Island, plus a 45-minute guided introduction each at the Bode-Museum, the Pergamon Panorama and the Neues Museum. Four hours on museum floors are, however, four hours on museum floors. It can be cancelled free of charge up to 24 hours beforehand.

Verdict: the richest offer in content, still a leap of faith in terms of reviews. To the full review.

Exclusive private tour of Museum Island

5.0 out of 5 from nine reviews, two hours, private group of up to ten people. The most important sentence about this offer isn't in the title: it's a walk around the island. Included is access to the entrance halls, not full museum admission. Anyone who wants to see the bust of Nefertiti needs an additional museum ticket. As a way to put the island and its history in context, the tour is strong; as a substitute for a museum visit, it doesn't work.

Verdict: good for architecture and history, not for a quick look at Nefertiti. To the full review.

Ticket with digital tour and city walk

3.8 out of 5 from six reviews, the weakest rating on this page. Included are the entrance ticket via the app, access to the Egyptian Collection and the permanent exhibitions, a digital audio tour and a digital city walk. A human guide, headphones and a smartphone are not included. Alexander from Spain found the ticket and audio guide straightforward; Nanette from Germany found the digital tour poor and hard to follow. With only six votes, a judgment like that carries weight.

Verdict: only if you really want the city walk. To the full review.

How we rate

We don't sell tickets. We read the offer descriptions, check them against what the museum itself publishes, and look at the public reviews on GetYourGuide, including the unflattering ones. The ratings above reflect the status as of late August 2026 and change with every new vote. If you first want to know which ticket you actually need, that's covered under Admission and Tickets. You'll find all five offers side by side on All tickets, the two guided options under Private guided tours, and the question of whether the visit is worthwhile for you at all is answered by Is it worth it?.

We are an independent guide, not a ticket seller. The booking links lead to GetYourGuide and are affiliate links — if you book through them, we may receive a small commission, at no extra cost to you. More on this in the Affiliate disclosure.

Frequently asked questions

Which ticket for the Neues Museum is the best?

For a visit to the Neues Museum, the simple entrance ticket with timed entry and audio guide, 4.6 out of 5 from 3,544 reviews — you can read more in our review of the admission ticket. Anyone wanting to see more than one building is better off with the Museum Island ticket .

Can I cancel the tickets?

Not all of them. The entrance ticket and the Museum Island ticket are non-refundable. The guided Museum Island tour, the private tour and the ticket with digital tour can be cancelled free of charge up to 24 hours beforehand.

How meaningful is a rating based on three reviews?

Not very. The guided Museum Island tour stands at 5.0 out of 5, but only has three votes so far; a single disappointed booking would move the number significantly. That's why we always add the number of reviews, instead of just showing the rating.

Why are there no prices on this page?

Because they change, and a figure on an advice page is quickly wrong. What a ticket costs on your chosen day is shown live in the booking window on every page. Which ticket types exist at all is covered under Admission and Tickets.
